Details:

On Sunday, February 4, 2018, at 5:07 p.m., officers from the Perris Police Department responded to the area of E. San Jacinto Ave. and Wilson Ave., regarding a vehicle that had struck a pedestrian. Officers arrived on scene within minutes, along with personnel from Cal Fire, and found the subject lying in the roadway. Life saving measures were attempted; however, the victim, a 36 year-old resident of Mead Valley, was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the collision. East and west bound E. San Jacinto was closed for several hours during the investigation.

The preliminary investigation revealed a vehicle was driving east bound on E. San Jacinto Ave., when for unknown reasons, the victim ran up the vehicle and grabbed hold of the drivers passenger mirror. The driver became frightened and drove away, causing the victim to be run over by the vehicle. The victim’s name will not be released at this time, pending notification to next of kin by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Officer Smith of the Perris Station Traffic Team at (951) 210-1000.
