The goal of the DUI checkpoint was to remove impaired drivers from the highway and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. This checkpoint was one of many that will be conducted throughout the year in the City of Perris. • 2790 Vehicles passed through the checkpoint • 4 DUI arrests • 5 Misdemeanor arrest warrants • 44 Citations were issued to unlicensed drivers • 15 Citations were issued to drivers with suspended license • 58 Vehicles towed • 17 Child safety seat violation citations • 14 Field sobriety tests This checkpoint was funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
