On January 1, 2010, about 3:10 AM, Menifee Police deputies responded to a residence in the 27000 block of Almont, City of Menifee, regarding a report of an assault. The investigation revealed that earlier in the evening, the victim asked a party-goer, later identified as Rogelio Santillan (age 20 of Menifee), to leave. Santillan left, but returned a short time later, armed with a large knife. Santillan hid in bushes, adjacent to the victim’s home, until the victim came outside. Santillan came out of hiding and stabbed the victim repeatedly, causing serious injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital.
The suspect fled the scene. On January 6, 2010, Menifee Police detectives located Santillan and arrested him without incident. He was booked for attempt murder.
