On Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at approximately 7:52 AM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station, responded to report of a traffic collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle at Bob Hope Drive and Rancho Las Palmas, Rancho Mirage. Upon the deputy’s arrival they discovered a 44-year-old Hispanic female of Rancho Mirage had been struck by a vehicle while crossing within the crosswalk of Bob Hope Drive. The driver of the vehicle, a 74-year-old African American female remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Preliminary investigation revealed the vehicle was making a left turn from eastbound Rancho Las Palmas onto northbound Bob Hope Drive when the collision occurred. The pedestrian suffered injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and is expected to survive. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision, and the exact cause of the collision is still under investigation.
