On Saturday, June 15, 2019, at approximately 6:49 AM, Deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Palm Desert Station, responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision in the area of Monterey Ave. and Shadow Ridge Rd., Palm Desert. Upon arrival, deputies located a collision involving a motorcycle and a Toyota SUV. Preliminary investigation revealed the motorcyclist, a 46-year-old male from Palm Desert was traveling northbound on Monterey Ave. when it collided with the Toyota, which had turned left from southbound Monterey Ave. onto Shadow Ridge Rd. The collision caused major injuries to the motorcyclist who was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 28-year-old female of Thousand Palms remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision. Identification of the motorcyclist is pending notification of next of kin. The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to call Deputy Michael Doyle of the Palm Desert Station’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600.
