On Sunday, June 9, 2019, approximately 4:10 AM, a vehicle drove through barricades that were set up at Highway 111 and San Pablo reference a fatal collision.  A white sedan was traveling westbound on Highway 111 and collided with the barricades and began driving through the crime scene. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at San Pablo and El Paseo. The driver, Karely Beltran, 19 of La Quinta, showed signs and symptoms of alcohol impairment, and she was subsequently arrested for 23152(a) and (b) VC, hit and run collision, and driving without a license.  Beltran was transported to a local hospital for a medical release.  She was then transported to Indio jail for the above listed charges.  The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to call Deputy Nicole Wilhite of the Palm Desert Station’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600.
