On Friday, May 17, 2019, members of the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team/Business District Team and Agents of the California Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC), conducted a minor decoy operation in which the minors under the age of 21 years, with direct supervision of deputies and ABC agents, attempted to purchase alcohol from seven retail licensees in the city of Palm Desert.
All seven business were found to be in compliance.
Multiple stations from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department received an ABC Alcohol Policing Partnership grant. This grant money is being used to help fight alcohol related crimes and to educate ABC licensed businesses. The goal of the ABC APP program is to partner with local law enforcement agencies to help make communities safer.
ABC in conjunction with the Riverside Sheriff’s Department is conducting the compliance checks statewide to reduce the availability of alcohol to minors. Conducting minor decoy operations are a tool of law enforcement to ensure that licensees are complying with the law. Operations will continue within the jurisdiction of the Palm Desert Station.
Anyone with further information about this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Troyer at the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station, 760-836-1600.
