On May 8, 2019, at 11:29 pm, an officer from the Rancho Mirage Desert Police Department witnessed a traffic collision in the intersection of Highway 111 and Bob Hope Drive, within the city of Rancho Mirage. Officers determined a gray Honda sedan traveling westbound on Highway 111 veered off the roadway and collided with a traffic signal pole at the intersection. The driver of the Honda, Kelsey Diaz, age 26 of Desert Hot Springs, was determined to have been operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Kelsey Diaz was released at a local hospital to seek further medical treatment.
