On Monday, April 29, 2019, at approximately 8:10 PM, officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to report of a major injury traffic collision in the area of Town Center Way and Hahn, Palm Desert. Upon the officer’s arrival, they located a collision involving a pedestrian and a Ford pickup truck. Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian, a 77-year-old Caucasian male from Palm Desert was crossing Town Center Way outside of the designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Ford truck traveling southbound on Town Center Way. The collision caused major injuries to the pedestrian who was treated at the scene by emergency medical personnel and transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the vehicle, a 44-year-old male of Palm Desert remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this collision. Identification of the pedestrian is pending notification of next of kin. The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to call Officer Bradley Stone of the Palm Desert Police Department’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600.
