 On Thursday, April 25, 2019 at approximately 8:56 AM, traffic officers from the Indian Wells Police Department responded to the area of Hwy 111 and El Dorado Drive in reference to a reported traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle.  Preliminary investigation revealed a city Public Works employee was parked on the paved shoulder of w/b Hwy 111 with his vehicle’s warning lighting activated when a cyclist traveling w/b on Hwy 111 collided into the rear of his vehicle.  The 75-year-old male cyclist suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition.  The Public Works employee remained at the scene and cooperated with traffic officers.  Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to call Officer Miller from the Palm Desert Station’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600
