On Thursday, April 25, 2019 at approximately 8:56 AM, traffic officers from the Indian Wells Police Department responded to the area of Hwy 111 and El Dorado Drive in reference to a reported traffic collision involving a bicyclist and a vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed a city Public Works employee was parked on the paved shoulder of w/b Hwy 111 with his vehicle’s warning lighting activated when a cyclist traveling w/b on Hwy 111 collided into the rear of his vehicle. The 75-year-old male cyclist suffered significant injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The Public Works employee remained at the scene and cooperated with traffic officers. Alcohol was not a factor in this collision. The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing.
