Within minutes, deputies arrived and contacted a male who matched the description provided by callers.  The male was armed with a handgun and moments later a deputy involved shooting occurred.  Deputies rendered life-saving measures and requested paramedics for additional medical assistance.  Despite life-saving measures by first responders, the suspect succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  The suspect’s named will not be released pending identification and notification of next of kin.  No deputies or citizens were injured during the incident.

The involved deputies have been placed on administrative leave per Department policy.  The involved deputies’ names will not be released at this time.  Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff Department's Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation.  This is an on-going investigation.  Anyone with information regarding the incident is encouraged to contact Central Homicide Investigator Gomez at (951) 955-2777 or Investigator Hendry at (760) 836-1600.
