On November 12, 2018, at approximately 2:40 PM, officers from the Palm Desert Police Department received a report of an armed robbery that occurred at an ATM machine, located in the 74-900 block of Country Club Drive. The male suspect was wearing a mask, armed with a firearm, when he approached the victim and took an undisclosed amount of money. The victim was not injured during the incident. 

The Palm Desert Burglary Suppression Unit (BSU) assumed the investigation and were able to identify 24-year-old, Palm Desert resident, Marco Hernandez, and 37-year-old, Desert Hot Springs resident, Joshua Stratton as the suspects involved in the armed robbery.

On November 13, 2018, the Burglary Suppression Unit with assistance from the Palm Desert Special Enforcement Team, Palm Desert Business District Team, Indian Wells Special Enforcement Team, and the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team served a search warrant at a residence located in the 77-700 block of Michigan Drive, in Palm Desert. Hernandez was located and arrested at the location.

On November 14, 2018, the Burglary Suppression Unit with assistance from the Palm Desert Business District Team and the Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team located and arrested Stratton at a residence located in the 65-900 block of Cahuilla Drive, located within the city of Desert Hot Springs. A search of the residence resulted in the location of evidence connected to the robbery as well as an illegal assault rifle which was not used during the commission of the robbery.

Hernandez was arrested for robbery and burglary. Stratton was arrested for robbery and unlawful possession of an assault rifle. Both suspects were booked into the Riverside County Jail, located in the city of Indio.
