On Friday, November 9, 2018, at approximately 11:30 AM, traffic officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to the area of Cook Street and Santa Fe Trail, in reference to a reported traffic collision involving two vehicles.  Preliminary investigation revealed one vehicle was traveling southbound on Cook Street and suddenly drove into the northbound lanes when it collided with another vehicle.  An elderly male driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced deceased at the scene. At this time, it is unknown if alcohol/drugs were a factor of the collision.

The investigation to determine the cause of the collision is ongoing. Anyone who witnessed the collision or has further information is asked to call Officer Potter from the Palm Desert Police Department’s Traffic Team at (760) 836-1600.
