On Wednesday, January 24, 2018, just before 3:30 PM, deputies from the Palm Desert Sheriff Station located a stolen vehicle in the area of Varner Road and Ramon Road in the unincorporated community of Thousand Palms. Deputies attempted an enforcement stop, but the driver failed to yield. The vehicle was occupied by a single female.

The driver fled the area and a pursuit ensued. The pursuit entered westbound Interstate 10 and reached speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour.

The vehicle eventually exited the freeway and yielded near the intersection of Malki Road and Seminole Drive in the city of Cabazon. The female driver did not immediately surrender. After sometime, the female driver was taken into custody without further incident.

No citizens or deputies were injured during the incident. The driver was identified as Tessa DeLeon, a 38-year-old female of Riverside. DeLeon was booked at the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for charges of Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Evading Arrest.
