Details:

On Friday, January 12, 2018, at 11:21 AM, officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Hovley Lane, east of El Dorado Drive, in the city of Palm Desert.  A 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Joshua Sarvis, 41 years of Palm Desert, collided into the rear of a BMW 540i and lost control. The Hyundai Santa Fe collided into a tree causing it to roll over.  Sarvis sustained major injury and was taken to a local hospital.  The other driver of the BMW was not injured. 

The investigation revealed Sarvis was operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs.  Sarvis was admitted at the hospital due to his injuries. Charges will be filed against Sarvis for driving while under the influence of drugs.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Palm Desert Police Department at 760-836-1600 or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP (7867).

The Palm Desert Police Department encourages the motoring public to not operate a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. To report drunk drivers, please call 911.
