Officers from the Indian Wells Police Department responded to the area of the 7700 block of east bound Fred Waring Ave, reference a call of a possible traffic collision. Officers arrived and found a blue Honda Civic had in the middle of road way, that appeared to have had collided with the center median. The vehicle’s steering wheel and side impact air bags had deployed. The owner of the vehicle, Jose Gudino, 37, of Palm Desert, was found in the center median. Gudino initially stated he was not the driver, and his friend had crashed his vehicle and ran away. Gudino was evaluated by Riverside County Fire, and taken to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries. Gudino was assessed for driving under the influence. Gudino finally admitted to driving the vehicle. It was determined he was driving while intoxicated, and arrested. Gudino was booked into the Riverside County Jail in Indio.
