            On Monday, December 11, 2017, at 1:20 P.M., officers from the Palm Desert Police Department responded to a report of a theft that had just occurred within the 73000 block of El Paseo, Palm Desert. The victims reported their purses were stolen while they were seated within an outside patio area. A security guard for an adjacent business observed the theft, chased the suspects, and obtained a description of the suspects as well as a vehicle description. The suspects were described as two BMA’s, about 20 years old. Several minutes later, officers from the Palm Desert Station spotted the suspect vehicle near Magnesia Falls and Portola Avenue, Palm Desert. The vehicle was stopped and two subjects matching the suspect description were detained. The suspects were later positively identified as the suspects involved in the theft. The stolen property was recovered and returned to the victims. The suspects were identified as Grant Ewing, 23 years of Desert Hot Springs and Shyheed Boyd, 18 years of Desert Hot Springs. Both suspects were booked into the County Jail in Indio for Grand Theft, and Conspiracy. A parole hold was placed on Ewing after it was discovered he was on active parole for burglary.
