On Monday, November 25, 2019, Officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to the 7800 block of Reche Canyon Road to investigate a report of a traffic collision. During their investigation, they learned the collision was likely intentional and the victim, later identified as, Joseph Laverty, a 60 year old male from Moreno Valley, had died from his injuries. Investigators from the Central Homicide Unit were notified and assumed the nvestigation. On Tuesday November 26, 2019, Brian Davidson, a 57 year old male from Moreno Valley, has been arrested for murder due to his involvement in Laverty’s death. This is an active investigation and anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact Investigator Deanne of the Central Homicide Unit at (951) 955-2777 or Investigator Pentel at the Moreno Valley Station at (951) 486-6700.
