On Sunday, October 20, 2019, at approximately 10:10 PM, deputies from the Moreno Valley Sheriff's Station responded to the report of gunfire in the 25000 block of Fir Street.  Initial reports described a male who was armed with a weapon and shooting in the area.

Upon arrival, deputies contacted several male adults. As deputies attempted to detain them, they identified one male who was armed with a rifle and handgun. During the contact, a deputy involved shooting occurred. 

The suspect, a 36-year-old male resident of Moreno Valley, was injured during the shooting and transported to a local hospital where he was treated for a non-life-threatening injury. After treatment, the suspect will be booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for weapons related charges. The suspect’s identity is not available for release at this time, pending the ongoing investigation.

There were no additional injuries to members of the public, or deputies. There are no outstanding suspects and no threat to public safety. 

Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff's Central Homicide Unit (CHU) responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The deputy involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave per Department policies.
