On Thursday, City of Moreno Valley will be hosting its annual 4th of July Parade and Family Funfest.  In an effort to assist drivers and residents negotiate through the street closures for the two events, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department – Moreno Valley Station’s Traffic Bureau is provided the following information: 

The 4th of July Parade is scheduled to begin at 9:30 AM and it will proceed northbound on Frederick Street from Alessandro Boulevard to the intersection of Frederick Street and Towngate Boulevard.  After reaching Frederick Street and Towngate Boulevard, the parade will proceed westbound on Towngate Boulevard. to Heritage Way to its termination point. 

Frederick Street and Veterans Avenue between Cactus Avenue and Alessandro Boulevard will be closed for the parade staging from 6:30 AM until 12:00 PM.  Parade participants will be able to access the staging area from the intersection of Veterans Avenue and Cactus Avenue   

Additionally, Frederick Street (from Alessandro Boulevard. to Centerpoint Drive), Towngate Boulevard (from Frederick Street to Heritage Way) and Heritage Way (from Towngate Boulevard to Town Circle) will be closed from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM to accommodate the spectators and parade participants. 

To avoid the road closure, residents and motorists are encouraged to utilize Cactus Avenue, State Highway 60, and Ironwood Avenue to travel eastbound and westbound through the City of Moreno Valley. 

The Family Funfest will be held at Mountain View Middle School (located at 13130 Morrison St., Moreno Valley).  This event will open to the public at 2:00 PM and will conclude with the fireworks display at 9:00 PM.  Residents and motorists near Mountain View Middle School should expect heavy traffic in the area, especially when the fireworks show ends around 9:20 PM until 10:30 PM.
