On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at 9:50 PM, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Moreno Valley Station, responded to a major injury Hit and Run traffic collision in the area of Plaza Sonada Way and Los Cabos, Moreno Valley.
Upon arrival, deputies learned the suspect’s vehicle struck and pinned a pedestrian, who was at the rear of her vehicle. After the collision, the suspect fled the scene of the collision in their vehicle without rendering medical aid to the female. As a result of the collision, the female victim sustained major injuries and was transported to the Riverside University Health System Medical Center.
The investigation revealed the suspect’s vehicle was a white Chevrolet Impala and had sustained identifiable damage to the front of the vehicle. This information was broadcast to patrol operations as well as allied agencies immediately afterwards.
In the early morning hours of June 13, 2019, the Moreno Valley Station Traffic Team continued their Hit and Run investigation. The Moreno Valley City-Wide Camera System was reviewed to obtain additional information on the suspect’s vehicle.
One of our sergeants, who was on-duty when the collision occurred, was off-duty on his way home, when he noticed a White Chevrolet Impala abandoned on the northbound off-ramp of Interstate 215 at Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard in the city of Riverside.
The off-duty sergeant relayed this information to the traffic team and a motor deputy responded to the area of Interstate 215 and Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard to check the area. Images from the City-Wide Camera System were provided to the motor deputy, who determined the vehicle matched the suspect’s vehicle description.
The vehicle was towed as evidence to the Moreno Valley Station for further processing.
On June 15, 2019, the suspect, Christopher Deon Humphrey of Moreno Valley was identified and arrested for felony Hit and Run. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Deputy Kevin Seguin of the Moreno Valley Traffic Division at 951-486-6700.
