On May 19, 2019, at 2:55 A.M., deputies from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to a report of a major injury traffic collision at the intersection of Ironwood Avenue and Perris Boulevard, in the city of Moreno Valley.

Deputies from the Moreno Valley Police Department, Moreno Valley Fire Department personnel and AMR Paramedics arrived within minutes and discovered two vehicles involved in a collision. The driver and passenger from one of the vehicles sustained major injuries and were immediately transported by paramedics to a local hospital where the female succumbed to her injuries. The driver of the other vehicle, Raymundo Meza, 26-year-old Hispanic male of Moreno Valley fled the scene but was apprehended by a Good Samaritan until deputies arrived and took Meza into custody.  Meza did not sustain any injuries and was arrested and booked for felony driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs and fleeing from the collision scene with injuries.

Members of the Moreno Valley Police Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and are investigating this collision. Southbound lanes of Perris Boulevard north of Ironwood Avenue are closed and westbound Ironwood Avenue is closed at Perris Boulevard. The roadway is expected to reopen about 10:00 A.M.
