Moreno Valley, CA – Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department were dispatched to the 14600 block of Muirfield Street in the city of Moreno Valley to investigate a report of an assault.  When officers arrived they located a victim who had been doused with gasoline and lit on fire.  The victim, a 52-year-old Moreno Valley resident, was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment of life threatening injuries.  It is unknown if the victim will survive.

The suspect was identified as Richard Hampton, a 35-year-old resident of Moreno Valley.  Mr. Hampton fled the location but was subsequently located and taken into custody. Mr. Hampton was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for attempt homicide.
