Details:

On Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at about 4:40 p.m., officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department responded to the Sears Department Store parking lot at the Moreno Valley Mall reference a Suspicious Person call.

The initial reporting party, a citizen, stated seeing a suspicious male covering the license plates of a red vehicle in the parking lot near Sears. Moreno Valley Police Department P.O.P. (Problem Oriented Policing) Team members responded, saw the vehicle matching the desc ription of the suspicious vehicle and attempted a vehicle stop.

The vehicle failed to stop and a vehicle pursuit ensued for approximately 2 miles until the driver pulled into a driveway of a residence at the 23000 block of Betts Place in Moreno Valley. The driver surrendered to the P.O.P. Team officers and was taken into custody without incident. A handgun and a television were located inside the vehicle. The suspect was identified as David Sandel Flores, 27 years of Moreno Valley.

The investigation revealed Flores entered the store after covering the plates on the vehicle he was driving. Inside the store, Flores picked up a television and walked outside of the store without paying for it. A loss prevention officer confronted Flores in the parking lot where Flores pulled his shirt up and brandished a handgun at the officer, then drove away. No one was injured.

Flores was taken to the Robert Presley Detention Center were he was booked for Robbery.
