On Sunday, January 19, 2020, at 7:04 A.M., deputies from the Perris Station responded to assist CalFire at a reported structure fire in the 24000 Block of Bienvenidos Way, Lake Matthews. Responding firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and uncovered an illegal marijuana cultivation operation.

Deputies and investigators from the Marijuana Eradication Team (MET) responded to the location. Investigators served a search warrant, located over 7,400 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, and confiscated one shotgun. No suspects have been arrested at this time.
