On December 31, 2019, deputies from the Lake Elsinore station responded to the 3500 block of Lake Crest Dr., in reference to an assault with a deadly weapon. Members of the Riverside County Special Enforcement Bureau (SWAT) who were conducting saturation patrol in the area also arrived to assist with the call for service. Bernard Blanco a 56-year-old resident of the City of Lake Elsinore, refused to exit the residence. The hostage negotiation team arrived a short time later and assisted in successfully taking Bernard Blanco into custody with no further incident.
