Carib Bennett

On Wednesday, June 12, 2019, Deputies assigned to Lake Elsinore Sheriff Station’s Problem Oriented Policing Team observed a vehicle driving erratically on Central Avenue, as the driver transitioned northbound on Interstate 15.  A traffic enforcement stop for vehicle code violations was initiated.  The vehicle made an abrupt stop on the shoulder of Interstate 15.  The driver exited the vehicle and began running through a ravine, and over a fence into the nearby Warm Springs Community.  A perimeter was established and with the help of an alert resident, the driver was apprehended without incident.  The driver, Carib Bennett, 43 years of age and a resident of Mission Viejo, was arrested for an outstanding felony warrant out of Orange County for Post Release Supervision (PRCS) violation.

This is an ongoing investigation, and anyone with further information is asked to contact Deputy Beaudet at (951) 245-3300.

As a reminder, "Community Policing" involves partnerships between law enforcement and community members. Business owners and residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity directly to law enforcement by calling Sheriff's Dispatch at (951) 776-1099, or by calling 911 if the matter is an emergency.
