Details:

On Friday, April 19, 2019, Lake Elsinore Police Department’s, Problem Oriented Policing Team (POP) and Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) along with officials from Lake Elsinore Code Enforcement conducted a Homeless Outreach Program at the dirt extension of Lehr Street cross of Kansas Street, in the city of Lake Elsinore.

This area has become home to a growing number of transients / homeless individuals.  The deputies contacted multiple individuals and immediately began identifying available resources to assist these individuals to end the cycle of homelessness.  Of the people contacted, three requested immediate assistance.  Social Workers Action Group (SWAG) were called in to assist these three individuals with placement assistance and to end their cycle of homelessness.  Four of the individuals were arrested for various warrants both felony and misdemeanor.  The rest of the individuals refused assistance.  The transients / homeless individuals were given every opportunity to leave the area and were warned that failure to leave would result in arrest.

The City of Lake Elsinore and the Lake Elsinore Police Department are taking an aggressive stance in combatting the crimes associated with homelessness including the trespassing on private property.  With the help of our non-profit partners and community stakeholders, these individuals will be given every opportunity to help themselves end this vicious cycle.  If you would like more information on how you can help please visit www.lake-elsinore.org/residents/homelessness-in-le Opens in New Window or www.theswag.org Opens in New Window.
