Details:

On Tuesday, April 16, 2019, at 9:51 AM, deputies were at the 3000 block of Ash Street for an unrelated call for service when they observed an adult male run into the backyard of a residence.  The male had been standing next to a red Acura sedan that was parked in a driveway.  The homeowner, 30 year-old Ernesto Camarena, denied knowledge of the man who ran into his backyard or the vehicle parked in his driveway.  Deputies attempted to contact the unknown male, later identified as 22 year-old Francisco Orozco, of Santa Ana, and Orozco fled on foot by jumping fences and running from yard to yard throughout the neighborhood.

Ernesto Camarena Francisco Orozco

Deputies discovered the red Acura was reported stolen from Santa Ana and pursued Orozco.  He was eventually apprehended and determined to be wanted on multiple felony warrants issued in Orange County, for charges including Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Vehicle Theft, and Possession of Stolen Property.  Orozco was arrested for the warrants as well as a new vehicle theft charge related to the stolen Acura.  Deputies determined Orozco and Camarena were associates, and Camarena mislead deputies to assist Orozco’s escape.  Camarena was arrested for Accessory to Vehicle Theft, and both men were booked at Cois Byrd Detention Center.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Deputy Salcedo of the Lake Elsinore Police Department at (951) 245-3300.
