On Friday, March 8, 2019, officers of  the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a traffic collision on State Highway 74 near Mermack, Lake Elsinore. Upon their arrival, officers learned a Toyota SUV had collided with a street sweeper vehicle. The driver of the SUV was pronounced deceased a the scene. Her name is being withheld at this time pending notification to her next of kin. The Lake Elsinore Traffic Team is conducting a full investigation into the cause of the collision. Alcohol is not suspected to be a factor in this collision. Both directions of Highway 74 were closed for over 6 hours during the investigation.
