Speed Enforcement Operation in Lake Elsinore

In an ongoing effort to reduce injury and fatal traffic collisions, Lake Elsinore Police Department conducted an enforcement operation on February 27, 2019 with focused enforcement on collision-causing factors involving motorists, and specifically speed violations. Special patrols were deployed to crack down on drivers who violate traffic laws meant to protect all roadway users.

The department has mapped out locations from over the past three years where fatal traffic collisions have occurred and noted the violations that led to those crashes.  Officers were looking for violations made by drivers that can lead to life changing injuries or fatalities.

Traffic fatalities are rising in California. Locally, Lake Elsinore Police Department has  investigated 29 fatal collisions during the past three (3) years. California witnessed 3,680 traffic deaths in 2016.

Today’s enforcement operation generated the following results:

  • 37 drivers were cited for speed related violations
  • 1 driver was cited for licensing violations
  • 1 vehicle was impounded
  • 10 other citations were issued for various violations
