On 12/21/16 at approximately 8:55 pm, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to the report of an assault with a deadly weapon in the 200 block of E. Graham, Lake Elsinore. Upon arrival officers contacted the victim, who said the suspect pointed a rifle at him and said he was going to kill him. Although uninjured, the victim fearing for his life fled, and called 911.

As Lake Elsinore police officers arrived they attempted to contact the suspect, who fled into his residence. The area was contained as attempts were made to have the suspect exit the house and surrender. After a brief period of time passed, the suspect attempted to flee from his property on foot, but was quickly apprehended without incident by officers who were containing the area. The rifle the suspect used was later located on the suspect’s property and seized as evidence.

The suspect, identified as Raymundo Gomez, 24, a resident of Lake Elsinore, was later booked at the Cois Byrd Detention Center for assault with a deadly weapon, criminal threats, as well as attempted burglary.
