“If you drive drunk, the Lake Elsinore Police Department will be looking for you. The Department's message is very simple; Over the limit, under arrest.
During the operation one person was arrested for driving while intoxicated, one wanted person was arrested, 8 drivers were cited for driving without a license or while their licenses were suspended. Each of these drivers’ vehicles were subsequently towed, many subject to thirty-day impounds.
Funding for the patrol was provided through a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Over the course of the past two years, DUI collisions have claimed nine lives and seriously injured thirteen of our friends and neighbors in the city of Lake Elsinore.
Since 2005, the number of alcohol-involved fatalities has been dropping, thanks to efforts like this. But law enforcement and the public must continue to work toward zero deaths.
“Law enforcement officers are doing more to remove drunk drivers from California’s streets and highways thanks to our DUI traffic safety funding,” said Christopher J.
