On Saturday, July 20, 2019, about 12:43 PM, deputies from the Jurupa Valley Sheriff’s Station responded to Limonite Avenue cross of Avenida Juan Bautista, in the city of Jurupa Valley, regarding a major injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies located a single vehicle traffic collision involving a city light pole. One occupant of the vehicle was ejected as a result of the collision. An additional occupant of the vehicle was trapped and unresponsive. Cal Fire and American Medical Response arrived and pronounced subject deceased. The occupant who was ejected was transported to a local hospital with moderate injuries.

The Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a Toyota Camry was traveling westbound on Limonite Avenue at a high rate of speed when the vehicle lost control as it was switching lanes. The vehicle struck the light pole and the force of the impact knocked the light pole into the westbound lanes. At this time it does not appear that drugs or alcohol were involved in this traffic collision.
