On Thursday, July 4, 2019, about 9:16 PM, deputies from the Norco Sheriff’s Station responded to Sixth Street cross of Temescal Avenue, in the city of Norco, regarding a major injury traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies located a two-vehicle traffic collision with one of the driver’s trapped and unresponsive. Cal Fire and American Medical Response arrived and pronounced subject deceased.
The Jurupa Valley Station’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded and assumed the investigation. The preliminary investigation revealed a Chevrolet El Camino was traveling southbound on Temescal Avenue at a high rate of speed. The vehicle struck a Toyota Tundra in the intersection, which was traveling westbound on Sixth Street. The force of impact caused the Toyota Tundra to flip onto its roof and slide across the intersection. Both vehicles came to rest on the southwest portion of the intersection into the oncoming lanes of traffic.
The sole occupant of the Toyota Tundra was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the El Camino, a 44-year-old male from Norco, succumbed from his injuries.
