The victim's name is Max Mathew Grajiola, Hispanic male adult, 18 years. of Indio.
Update 01-31-10:
Early this morning Investigators received notification that the victim in the assault had succumbed to his injuries. Additional Investigators from the Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit were called and responded to the scene.
At this time the identity of the victim is not being released pending positive identification and notification of the next of kin.

Details:
On Sunday, January 31, 2010 at about 2:16 a.m., officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to the 50000 block of Calle Mendoza in the City of Coachella reference a man down call.
Officers arrived within minutes and located a male victim of an assault with a deadly weapon. The victim was located at the end of the cul-de-sac of Corte Olivia suffering form several gunshot wounds and was transported to Desert Hospital in serious condition. The male was identified as a Hispanic male adult, 18 years of Indio. The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
Coachella Police Department Investigators responded and assumed the investigation. The cause of this incident is unknown and is under investigation. The suspect or suspects remain at large. This investigation is continuing and no suspect information is immediately available.
