On Sunday, November 26, 2017, around midnight, officers from the California Highway Patrol and deputies from the Cabazon Station responded to a major injury traffic collision on the westbound Interstate 10 freeway at the Whitewater exit in Whitewater.

It was determined a hit and run traffic collision occurred. During the investigation, an occupant of a vehicle involved in the collision was found unconscious on the shoulder of the freeway. The victim sustained significant injuries from a traffic collision.  In addition to injuries from a traffic collision, the victim appears to have been assaulted resulting in additional wounds.

The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed a traffic collision or any suspicious activity in the area around the hours of midnight.  Anyone with information regarding this incident can contact Investigator Thomas at the Cabazon Station at (951) 922-7100.
