Adam Gray

On Saturday, November 11, 2017, at approximately 5:13 P.M., Hemet Station deputies responded to the area of State Route 371 and Homestead Road in the unincorporated community of Anza regrading an assault with a deadly weapon call.  The victim reported the suspect Adam Gray, a white male 31-year-old resident of Vista, shot a shotgun at the victim while driving.  Gray attempted to flee east bound on State Route 371 through Anza.  A deputy responding to the call saw Gray’s vehicle and attempted to catch up to him.  Gray exited State Route 371 onto Burnt Valley Road and turned on various dirt roads to elude the deputy.  During this process, Gray tossed a loaded shotgun out the window his vehicle which was recovered later.

As the deputy closed the distance, Gray lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a dirt embankment on Burnt Valley Road east of Kirby Road.  The deputy held Gray at gun point until a California Highway Patrol officer arrived to assist taking Gray into custody.  Gray was later transported to a local medical facility for treatment of minor injuries sustained during the collision.  Gray was booked into the Cois Byrd Detention Center for attempted murder and assault with a firearm.

Anyone with additional information on this incident is encouraged to call Deputy Alejandro Garcia at the Hemet Sheriff’s Station by calling (951) 791-3400.
