On January, 24, 2010, at approximately 8:45 PM, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to Kim’s Pagoda Restaurant located at 2177 S. San Jacinto Street, San Jacinto, regarding a robbery. The employees called 911 when an unknown black male adult wearing a nylon stocking and beanie to disguise his face entered the restaurant and demanded money while brandishing a handgun.
Officers arrived on scene within minutes of the call and heard squealing of tires east of San Jacinto Street on Midway Street which crosses San Jacinto Street at the restaurant. Officers entered the restaurant and determined no injuries were sustained during the commission of crime. Officers were told the suspect; a black male adult approximately 6 feet tall and over 200 pounds entered the restaurant brandishing a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect fled the restaurant after an employee armed himself with a knife and refused to comply with the suspect's demands. The suspect fled the scene in an unknown make or model vehicle.
A perimeter was immediately established surrounding the area and an extensive search for the suspect was initiated. Officers located a vehicle that collided with a dirt embankment on Midway Street, approximately one half of a mile from the restaurant. A nylon stocking and beanie were recovered inside the disabled vehicle. Identification from inside of the vehicle was obtained and a search warrant secured for a residence at 555 East Fruitvale Avenue, Hemet.
Julius Alexander Hickmon, 39 years, of Hemet was arrested for attempt robbery and booked into the Smith Correctional Facility. Anyone with additional information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Investigator Farwell at the San Jacinto Police Department at (951) 654-2702.
