||Gang Member in Possession of Stolen Vehicle While on Bail

On January 2, 2018, about 3:15 PM, members of the Region 7 Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force conducted an unoccupied vehicle check in the 11000 Block of Little Dipper Street in Jurupa Valley. Further investigation determined the vehicle was stolen one day prior from the City of Riverside. Task force officers from the Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail or RAID assisted in the investigation and observed a Hispanic female adult enter the stolen vehicle and drive away from the location.
Members from the Region 7 Gang Task Force located the stolen vehicle a short distance away and conducted a traffic enforcement stop. The driver yielded and was identified as 28-year-old, Jurupa Valley resident, Shawna Hernandez, who is on active probation for vehicle theft. Hernandez was also identified as being an active participant of a criminal street gang and was out of custody on bail for two other separate vehicle theft investigations. Hernandez was also found to be in possession of ammunition and a large capacity assault weapon magazine. Hernandez was and later booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for the following charges:
- Vehicle theft with a prior conviction
- Possession of a stolen vehicle
- Felon in possession of ammunition
- Possession of a large capacity magazine
- Felony Probation violation
The Region 7 Gang Task Force is one of eight teams composing the Riverside County Regional Gang Task Force, which is a collaborative effort of 25 law enforcement agencies with the goal of combating criminal street gangs throughout Riverside County. The Region 7 team is staffed with members of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, California Highway Patrol, Riverside County Probation and California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
