Details:

On Wednesday, December 21, 2017, at approximately 3:30 PM, deputies assigned to the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force (CVVCGTF) were in the area of Cactus Drive and Pierson Boulevard, in the city of Desert Hot Springs when they observed a vehicle fail to stop at a stop sign. Based on the drivers driving actions the officers believed the driver was possibly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. At that time officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the area of Pierson Boulevard and Palm Drive but the driver refused to stop.

A pursuit ensued through Desert Hot Springs and onto the eastbound I-10 freeway when the vehicle struck the guard rail on the freeway overpass as it exited onto the Date Palm exit into the city of Cathedral City. The driver continued to ignore the pursuing officers attempts to conduct a traffic stop and drove through Cathedral City into Rancho Mirage. Due to the high speed and other conditions the pursuit was terminated as the vehicle drove onto the eastbound Interstate 10 freeway. The vehicle was located in the city of Palm Desert in the area of Cook Street and Dinah Shore. A deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop and the driver failed to stop and continued to evade the officer. The pursuit was terminated again in the area of Cook Street and Fred Waring. At that time, the driver drove eastbound on Fred Waring towards the city of Indio. While fleeing the driver struck a vehicle in the area of Fred Waring and Washington Street and fled the scene. No one was injured as a result of the collision.

With assistance from the California Highway Patrol Air Unit the vehicle was located, in the area of Miles Avenue and Clinton Street, within the city of Indio. CVVCGTF officers responded and with assistance from the Indio Police Department three males were located and detained. As a result of the investigation 28-year-old, Indio resident, Jesus Noriega, was arrested for possession of stolen property, evading a peace officer, and violation of probation.  24-year-old, Danny Noriega, was also arrested for possession of stolen property, evading a peace officer/reckless driving, felon in possession of a firearm, felon in possession of ammunition, and other related charges. Both were booked into the Riverside County jail, located in the city of Indio. The third male who was detained at the scene was released and not charged with any crime.
