Gang Member Arrested for Assault with Caustic Chemical

On Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at 3:45 P.M. the Coachella Valley Violent Crime Gang Task Force conducted a follow-up investigation into an assault with caustic chemical that occurred on May 14, 2019 in the city of La Quinta. During the incident, the victim was assaulted and doused with gasoline. The suspect was identified as Mario Zamarripa, 39 of La Quinta. Zamarripa is a documented criminal street gang member. Task Force Officers located Zamarripa in a residence near the 51000 block of Avenida Martinez during which time Zamarripa attempted to flee on foot before being apprehended by Task Force Officers. Zamarripa was arrested and charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Assault with a Caustic Chemical, Domestic Violence, Child Endangerment, Vandalism and Resisting Arrest. He was booked at the Indio Jail.
