On Friday, August 9, 2019, about 6:29 PM, officers from the Beaumont Police Department responded to a report of an in-progress domestic violence incident at a residence located in the 600 block of Michigan Avenue.

Officers arrived and contacted a male, who exited his residence armed with two large knives. The suspect advanced toward the officers and an officer involved shooting occurred. Officers attempted lifesaving measures and called for paramedics. Paramedics arrived, transported the suspect, but the suspect ultimately succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

The Beaumont Police Department requested the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department conduct an independent investigation of the incident. Investigators from the Riverside County Sheriff Department’s Central Homicide Unit responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. The identity of the suspect is being withheld pending the ongoing investigation and notification of next of kin. The involved officers have been placed on administrative leave per Beaumont Police Department’s policy. The officers involved in this incident will not be identified at this time.
