On Wednesday, June 26, 2019, at 12:02 AM, Deputies from the Hemet Station responded to a burglary in progress. A suspect broke into the residence, which was occupied by a family. The suspect was confronted by an armed home owner and a shooting occurred, which resulted in the death of the suspect.

There were no injuries sustained by the residents of the home, and there are no outstanding suspects or threats to public safety. The Riverside County Sheriff’s Central Homicide Unit responded and assumed the investigation. No arrests have been made at this time and the deceased suspect’s name will not be released at this time pending the ongoing investigation.
