Update 04-16-2019:

On April 11, 2019, at about 7:00 a.m., deputies and investigators from the Perris Sheriff Station, Perris Homeless Outreach Program, Riverside Auto Theft Interdiction Detail, Sheriff’s Marijuana Eradication Team, Perris Animal Control and Code Enforcement, and the Central Homicide Unit, served a search warrant on a 5-acre parcel of land in the area southeast of Phillips St. and Robles Ln. Perris. This location is about 1.5 miles north of the area where the victim, Rafael Quintero, was found on January 29, 2019.

During the service of the search warrant, several occupants were contacted at several camping trailers and tents. An illegal marijuana grow operation was found and dismantled. Gerald Ibarra, 41 years of Perris, was arrested for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Ammunition. Juan Garcia, 32 years of Perris, was arrested for a Stalking Warrant, and Brenda Martinez, 34 years of Perris, was arrested for a Driving a Stolen Vehicle Warrant.

During interviews conducted that day, a suspect in the murder was identified, and Gerardo Jimenez, 48 years of Perris, was arrested for the murder of Rafael Quintero.

Details:

On January 29, 2019, at about 8;20 a.m., deputies from the Lake Elsinore Station were dispatched to a report of a dead body in the area of Keystone Dr. and McPherson Rd. Upon arrival, deputies were directed to a culvert southeast of Keystone Dr. and Cakes Pl., in the unincorporated area of Lake Elsinore. They located a deceased male with obvious trauma, in the culvert. Deputies secured the area as a crime scene and investigators from the Lake Elsinore Station responded. The Central Homicide Unit also responded and assumed the investigation.

The victim has not yet been identified.  The investigation is currently on-going and no further information will be released at this time.
