On Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 12:08 PM, Cabazon Station deputies responded to the Cabazon Public Library regarding a burglary alarm. Deputies arrived and found several smashed windows to the library.  On video surveillance, an unknown male suspect is seen throwing rocks through the 4’ x 10’ double glass front windows. Two additional large double glass windows were also smashed on the south side of the library with rocks.  No entry was made into the library and the shattered glass triggered the alarm. Initial estimates of the damage were $2,000.

On 07/29/19, at 9:13 AM, the library staff called the Sheriff’s Department regarding a possible suspect to the vandalism was back at the library. Deputies arrived and detained Louis Angel Mendoza (male Hispanic, 20-years old, resident of Cabazon), at the library. Mendoza was confirmed as the suspect seen in the surveillance video throwing the rocks through the front windows.  Mendoza was booked into the Larry Smith Correctional Facility for felony vandalism.
