On Thursday, January 14, 2010, about 1:28 AM, a Cabazon patrol deputy conducted a traffic stop on a 90’s model sport utility vehicle for a vehicle code violation, near the intersection at Apache Trail and Seminole Road, Cabazon. The driver, 35-year-old Ernest Miranda of San Diego, exited the vehicle upon being stopped, and attempted to conceal a clothing item that contained 22 grams of suspected Methamphetamine. Ernest was also found to be on active parole.
The front seat passenger, identified as 35-year-old Richard Miranda of Cabazon, was found to have an outstanding felony warrant for Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The investigation revealed both Richard Miranda and Ernest Miranda conspired to transport the significant quantity of illicit drugs to sell. Both were booked at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility on felony charges related to Transportation of Methamphetamine for Sales and Criminal Conspiracy, with Ernest Miranda having an additional Parole Violation charge, and Richard Miranda the aforementioned warrant. The Methamphetamine seized has an estimated street value of $2,200.00.
