On Tuesday, January 23, 2018, at approximately 12:38 PM, officers from the Menifee Police Department responded to the Mesa View Elementary School regarding a report of a man with a gun.  School staff initiated a lockdown of the school as a precautionary measure.  Arriving officers quickly began a search of the exterior school grounds and detained an adult male subject matching the description of the man with a gun.  The adult male was identified as Mark Delarosa, 35 of Romoland.  School administrators were notified and the lockdown was lifted allowing the school to resume normal activities.  There were no injuries as a result of this incident and no outstanding threat to public safety.  Delarosa was arrested for being in possession of a weapon on school grounds and the investigation is on-going.
