Details:

On Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 8:40 PM, an on-duty Perris Police officer, was involved in a collision with a female juvenile pedestrian on Perris Boulevard, north of Nuevo Road, in the City of Perris.

The pedestrian was transported to an area hospital where she passed away. The pedestrian’s identity is being withheld at this time. At the time the collision occurred, the officer was involved in a routine response to a call for service within the City of Perris.

Preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian ran into the roadway and collided with the side of the officer’s vehicle.

The collision investigation is being conducted by the California Highway Patrol’s Multidisciplinary Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). The Riverside County Sheriff’s Professional Standards Bureau is investigating the officer’s compliance with Department Policy.
