On Saturday, October 24, 2009 at approximately 1947 hours, officers from the San Jacinto Police Department responded to a traffic collision on San Jacinto Avenue south of Midway Street in the City of San Jacinto. Upon arrival, officers discovered a 1997 full-sized GMC truck had struck a pedestrian in the roadway.
The San Jacinto Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. The preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was traveling northbound on San Jacinto Avenue approaching Midway Street when it struck a pedestrian who was walking eastbound across San Jacinto Avenue. The pedestrian was transported to Riverside County Regional Medical Center (RCRMC) where he was placed on life support.
At this time the investigation is still ongoing. However, speed and alcohol does not appear to be a contributing factor to the collision. Identification of the victim is being withheld pending the notification to the next of kin.
